Ive recently discovered that i have a deep want for an 80's Jag. Particularly an XJ6. Just so sexy. I feel like thats both a blessing and a curse. You've got a Jaaaaaaag but you've also got a Jaaaaaaag. We all know the great reliability of British cars.

Hey at least that's a doable dream. I want a 60's E-type roadster. We all know how cheap and reliable those are.

Apparently, the XJ40 was a surprisingly reliable car. British police forces used them as squad cars and they were capable of racking up the miles without excess servicing and repairs.

Are they relatively cheap to buy?

these are actually not too bad on reliability. The XJ40 was the best one imho. GM transmissions, bosch electronics.

I suppose so. A quick eBay UK search throws a few XJ40s at me that are all priced at less than £3,000, with a fat load of them under £2,000. In fact, you could even jump up a few generations and get the last gen XJ6 for less than £5,000. I love old luxury cars, they depreciate faster than falling rocks.
